Resident Finds Man Climbing Through Window
A Lawrenceburg man reported to authorities Saturday night that he had awakened to find a man climbing through his window.
The resident of Mattoxtown Road reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that he had been awakened shortly after 11:00 p.m. by the sound of breaking glass.
He told deputies he went to investigate and discovered that a man was attempting to climb through a living room window that he had broken. He said that once the man saw him he went to the front door, then made a second attempt to climb through the window.
He said that he placed a 911 call when the man had his upper body through the window. The man then abandoned the attempted burglary and ran away.
Deputies checked about the home. They report finding damages to several windows and the screen door. They also discovered that the victim’s vehicle had been burglarized. They noted there were several spots of blood inside.
While searching the area, deputies report locating a man in a neighbor’s yard that matched the description given by the victim. He was identified as Cody Frank Henry Adams, age 18, of 1101 Mattoxtown Road.
While making contact deputies noted that Adams had sustained a large scrape on his right hand as well as smaller scrapes all over his face and arms.
They said that he appeared to be very intoxicated. He told deputies that he had been assaulted by several men, and that “no one would help him.”
Reports show that Adams refused medical attention at the scene. He was transported to Crockett Hospital for evaluation. Once released, he was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges of aggravated burglary, burglary, and vandalism.
Adams is scheduled to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on May 21, 2013.
